Recently, popular rapper Diddy held a livestream dance-a-ton fundraisier on Instagram with several familiar and famous faces. Among those was pop sensation Lizzo, who was living it up on the livestream. She was enjoying herself as she began twerking to the popular song, “1 2 3” by Moneybagg Yo. However, fans were surprised when Diddy told her to stop, and asked to play a family friendly song, according to a recent Us Weekly article.
Lizzo laughed off the remark, and then requested Diddy play a song of her own so she could dance. Although Lizzio didn’t seem to mind the call-out, but some fans noticed a double standard; Diddy didn’t ask model Draya to stop twerking.
Diddy was quick to defend himself on his reasoning; the song playing during Lizzo’s twerking session was full of curse words, and he wanted to keep his livestream swear-free.
“She’s one of the best twerkers in the world, so let’s keep that clear. It wasn’t about twerking,” Diddy said about the misunderstanding.
Diddy also added how he considers Lizzo to be a sister to him, and encourages people to ‘stop looking [at the] negative[s], and [to] look at the positive[s].
