Being engaged is an exciting time for a couple. People are preparing for one of the best days of their life, there’re all types of preparation. From picking out the cake to picking the dress, wedding planning can be tedious. One of the most important things to get done before the wedding is the “save the dates”, this means loads and loads of pictures. Documenting big life events like an engagement is so important in today’s world, so everything has to be perfect.
However, not all things always go as planned. One particular couple’s engagement photo vent viral after its epic failure. Alyssa Snodsmith and Collin Hewett had the ideal perfect engagement shot picked out from Pinterest. According to Insider, Snodsmith stated, “I loved the photo and thought it fit perfectly with my and Collin’s personalities.” Everything was going to be perfect, until the photo went completely wrong, and it is hilarious. It is the ultimate expectation versus reality moment.
According to Insider, Snodsmith and Hewett met while attending the same university in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The two of them played soccer for the university and when they met at a preseason party, thinks just clicked for one of them. Hewett knew immediately that he liked Snodsmith, but she wasn’t having it. “He matured a lot in college, and I thought I might as well just try. We did long distance, and I just fell in love. I was like, wow, I can’t believe how much I miss this guy,” Snodsmith told Insider.
Three and a half years down the road, Hewett proposed to Snodsmith. Not too long after the proposal, it was time for the engagement photo shoot. Snodsmith searched Pinterest for the best photo ideas. Suddenly, she came across one that was perfect. It was an image of a man pouring champagne in his fiancés mouth. Snodsmith loved it.
Finally, came the day of the shoot. The photographs were turning out beautifully. Fifteen minutes in, the couple decided to take the planned champagne shot. They soon discovered it wasn’t as easy as it looked. The first take Hewett got some champagne in Snodsmith’s mouth, but the angle wasn’t quite right. The second take it where it went downhill. The champagne pour got out of hand and spilled down her shirt, spewing out of her mouth from all angles.
“It was probably like a quarter of the bottle,” Hewett told Insider. “I really over corrected.”
People went crazy when Hewett posted the comparison on Twitter. The photo went viral. Snodsmith and Hewett told Insider, they thought many people related to how authentic their engagement photo was. The photo now has over 58,000 retweets and over 499,000 likes.
Although the photo went viral, the couple has decided not to use the photo for the “save the dates”. “We’ve got some other ‘save the date’ pictures picked out,” Hewett said. The couple will cherish and laugh at this captured moment forever.
